photo of the month
july 2004 'hands' by Brian Tompkins
" I was walking down Oxford Street. It was
mid afternoon in November, it had been pouring in rain and the light was awful.
I saw this guy standing at the kerbside and decided that there was a picture. I
got to about three feet from him and knelt down on the wet pavement. I was
wearing a brand new pair of rather expensive cavalry twill trousers, but what
the hell. Trusty M4 with 50mm lens exposure 1/15th at f5.6 with FP4 film. Anyone
watching would have wondered what the hell I was doing. The trousers were
ruined, but never mind I have always enjoyed the snap. Incidentally, everyone
always thinks it is a nun with a rosary, but in fact it is an Arab gentleman
with his worry beads."
